Middlesbrough stained glass workshop will teach you the traditional Tiffany method of copperfoiling to create your own stained glass suncatcher. This creative and fun workshop is a totally beginner friendly and you will leave with a piece of stained glass art. You will make a stained glass star.
Schedule Summary
During the stained glass workshop you will learn all about how to cut glass by hand with traditional glass working tools. You will use a professional glass grinder to shape and refine your glass. You will use the Tiffany method of copperfoiling which dates all the way back to 1880’s! Your suncatcher will then be soldered together using lead-free solder and finished with patina.
- You will be provided with a template to create a specific suncatcher.
- There will be a selection of coloured glass for you to chose from to create your own unique suncatcher.Â
- There will be optional decorations available for you to incorporate into your design.
- You will finish your suncatcher with a hook and cord.
- You will leave with a finished suncatcher ready to be displayed in your home.Â
The workshop is priced at ÂŁ50 per person and will take between 1 to 2 hours. It is a fun and friendly session and there will be ample opportunity to ask questions and develop a greater understanding of the process. You don’t need to bring anything with you, all equipment and protective wear will be provided. Hot beverages will be available.Â
